If you are in any way (no matter how little) worried about drinking, this book will change your life forever. I will not try to include extracts of the concept because you really need to read it as instructed - from page one to the end - no skipping pages or paragraphs. Anybody who has given negative review of this book has either not read it as instructed, has failed to understand the whole concept - or simply has a closed mind.
The book is brilliantly written and the advice is first-class. As another reader has stated, this book should be in included in the National Curriculum. However, the drinks industry being as powerful as it is, there is no chance of that.
Buy this book (less than the price of a couple drinks) and your life could be changed for the better. Excellent!

30 Mar 2003 Reviewer: A reader
Apart from the numerous and varied 'self help' and 'spiritual' books I have read, my book shelf contains the following that specifically deal with addiction: AA's Big Book: Willpower's not enough: Addiction & Grace: The Zen of Recovery: The Truth about Addiction & Recovery: Wild Hunger. This book by Allen Carr is the best of them all because it has succeeded where they all failed. It has shed a very clear light on my addiction in a no-nonsense, clear and concise manner. Although I have literally just put the book down, I feel the elation of no longer being an alcohol addict instead of bemoaning the loss of 'using' a precious substance. I highly recommended it to anyone struggling with their use of alcohol.

This book gives the wrong impression

For a start the title is misleading, it implies that you can control, but Mr.Carr insists on total abstinence. Much of what he says is common sense but some of his thinking is flawed by my reckoning. To all intents and purposes IT DOES TASTE NICE. I felt that I had missed the point of this book at the end and I'm sure it won't 'do it for me'.

Excellent ! It really does work,

11 Jun 2003 Reviewer: A readerImagine you (having given up alcohol for the umpteenth time) are in a restaurant with friends watching with envy as they happily down your favourite chardonnay. Imagine the willpower you are having to muster to stop yourself succumbing to temptation yet one more time. Then imagine you leave the table and pass the open kitchen door where you spy the waiter urinating in the bottle he is about to bring to your table. How much willpower would it take for you to not touch the stuff then ? Well, Allen Carr's book is the literary equivalent of the waiter urinating in the wine bottle. You just don't want to drink any more - not even moderately. I know its hard to believe - but its true.
I now see all drinkers as alchohol addicts - no different from nicotine or heroin addicts. And if you think its preposterous to compare alcohol addicts with heroin addicts....you're absolutely right....alcohol ruins far more lives !
If you regularly drink more than you should, buy this book and get back your life.

Allen Carr's Easy Way to Control Alcohol

26 Jul 2003 Reviewer: A reader I'm a working Mum with two young children with a stressful job, with a husband who doesn't quite take on the more mundane of daily tasks! I have always drunk up to a stage in my latter years but have increased to a point that I feel I have a problem that couldn't be resolved. I bought Allen's book a year ago, read 4 chapters - then it went in a drawer. Feeling myself now in a vortex that is spinning downwards I have pulled the book out again and read it in on the train all week - being brave enough not to be embarrassed to open it in public. I'm only up to page 79 but it has got me thinking all the time - and yes, although I still drink at the moment, every drink I have I'm questioning myself 'does it tasted nice?' NO!
I'm looking forward to finishing the book because I feel that I'm half way to stoppping already. Determined not to give up this time! Best things of all is Allen makes you feel that we are not some incurable drunk but a REAL person who can conquer this. Let's go for it!

If Only I new the answers many years ago

30 Aug 2003 Reviewer: A readerThis book was bought not because I thought I had a problem drinking but because of my inner feeling that alcohol was not for me and I just seem to go along with the flow of society
I gave up alchohol after reading the first few pages and can honestly state that I have seen the light. Allen Carr can only be described as a person of open mindness who never tells you what to do in his book. I am sure there are many people out there like myself who really do want the answers to prevent this social disease and brainwashing in society.
Please just buy it and see for yourself. It will pay for itself when you stop buying that next drink.

Essential reading if you want to be free of the alcohol trap
27 of 28 people found the following review helpful:
21 April 2004 Reviewer: A reader
I discovered Allen Carr when I read the first couple of pages of his "StopSmoking" book at a friends house. I couldn't put it down and I knew Iwould be a non-smoker by the time I finished reading the book (I bought myown copy the very next day).
Then I discovered that he had adapted his Easyway method to includealcohol and that he had released his "Control Alcohol" book. I knew I hadto read it because I was very worried that I had lost control of mydrinking.
It's written in virtually the same style as his previous books and isutterly compelling reading from start to finish. It fills you with hopeand confidence and uses the power of rational thinking to dispel the mythssurrounding alcohol. It's difficult to criticise Carr's approach or stylein any way because his message comes across so clearly. After reading thisbook you will see alcohol and people who drink it in a very different way.Alcohol has become accepted and institutionalised by society and yet it isjust as addictive as heroin or tobacco.
I stopped drinking after reading this book and I feel elated by theknowledge that I can finally get on with the rest of my life - free fromthe alcohol prison, free from destroying my health and future for the sakeof a drug that does absolutley nothing for me. Highly recommended.

Talked down by reasoned argument
16 of 16 people found the following review helpful:
1 Jul 2004 Reviewer: A readerI don't want to go into another case study, but this kind of review helped me decide that this was the book that I would buy. I have to take the trouble to endorse this product. No tricks, no hardship, just simple, well presented truths that enabled me to get free from the drinking lifestyle that pervades all of our lives. I read a chapter per day and on the 7th day forgot to go to the pub for a drink - unheard of! There is still half a bottle of my favourite red wine in the kitchen 10 days after finising the book, I'll probably pour it away because I can no longer think of a good use for it.
The book price has already been saved many times over. I have already recommended it to my friends.

Does exactly what it says on the cover

17 Aug 2004 Reviewer: A reader
I hate reviewing books I like. It's always easy to say what's wrong with a book, but harder to do a good book justice in a few short sentences.
Now there is plenty wrong with this book. Sometimes the author uses the wrong words. He says 'schizophrenia' when he means 'ambiguity'. He uses the word 'relaxants' to describe tranquilizers. He talks about the ostrich sticking its head in the sand, although he admits he's never seen one do this. But these are just quibbles. The author doesn't claim to be an expert. And when did an 'expert' ever help you with your drink problem?
Like you, I'm not and never have been an alcoholic. But when I picked this book up I was a heavy drinker who had recently realized that I no longer controlled my drinking; in fact the drink was controlling me. I bought this book because it didn't have the words 'quit' or 'give up' in the title, and 'easy' was the clincher.
The author really does deliver what he promises, so don't be put off by the early chapters where he seems to be selling you the solution without telling you what it is. There is plenty of red meat here, so stick with it. You really can control alcohol and yes, it is easy.

Has helped, but not 100%
13 of 15 people found the following review helpful:
29 Aug 2004
Reviewer: A readerI bought this book because I felt that while I wasn't an alcoholic, I was drinking too much for my physical and mental health. The book uses the trick common in books like these of convincing you to hate alcohol and love not drinking it, and to an extent this has worked. I think a lot more about why I drink and this has lead to me cutting my intake in half. The book advocates complete cessation but I didn't wish to do this so I am happy with the result (although a wee bit guilty that I didn't achieve the book's intended result.).
Worth a read, even if not completely successful a partial success is still a good thing.

Take ALL books with a pinch of salt ...
22 of 38 people found the following review helpful:
its just an opinion., 30 Sep 2004 Reviewer: "monopolyrock"
This is yet another book on the complicated area of alcohol / alcoholism / addiction, but leans towards helping the lighter drinker with a minor problem with alcohol. The book is misleading in that the title says control (ie moderation) but really is geared towards total abstinence (My advice is that if you do have a problem with alcohol your goal should be total abstinence anyway). The book trys to get you to think that alcohol tastes bad and that it does nothing for you.......well if it tastes bad and does nothing for you I dont think that it would be the biggest drug on the planet do you?
My advice if you have a problem with alcohol is to...
1: Set a goal of abstinence (because you dont think logically when you put alcohol in your system and you are prone to think "what the hell" and drink more once under the influence - as pointed out in this book I might add).
2: Study addictions to have a greater understanding of them, read all you can. But take each book with a pinch of salt, you will find out that they conflict different opinions...use your own mind to decide whats best for you.
3: Quit hanging out in tempting / slippery places or with people that are a negative influence to your well being.
4: Get outside help if you think you need it...A.A. , a counseler, see your GP, or talk to a close friend (a problem shared is a problem halved)(especially if you feel you drink due to life problems and not just for pleasure).
5: Get into personal development books and set the bar higher for yourself. Set goals in life and give yourself something to aim for this will help you to replace the time you will now have with positive projects that will make you happy :)
6: Keep a diary of your feelings.
...and add anything else YOU think would help you (why not get some pens and paper out today and brainstorm some ideas / goals for yourself).
I hope you never give up trying to give up. It is hard otherwise books like this would not exist. But you can acheive your goal of QUITTING alcohol .... controlling alcohol is playing with fire in my opinion if you have a problem with it (you must have otherwise you would not be reading this book?).
Life free from addiction is fantastic....you just have to find your OWN path :)

Fantastic and Powerful Book that can change your life
32 of 36 people found the following review helpful:
7 Oct 2004 Reviewer: A reader
Please ignore the reviewer who states "this book gives the wrong impression". The only wrong impression is that that reviewer clearly does not want to stop drinking.
I stopped drinking on my own account for several months, then I started again. I contemplated joining the AA, then read it's appaling failure statistics from several sources; I then read other books on alcoholism (a title which can apply to almost anyone who actually drinks alcohol regularly), then I read Allen Carr's How to Control Alcohol. Do yourself a favour. If you are ready to turn over a new leaf in your life - read this book. It can turn your world around. Read it from front to back - that is critical to its success. It works. What more can I say? You have read this far for a reason. You know it.

The Second Best Decision of My Life

Reviewer: A readerI couldn't imagine a social life without alcohol and began to question why this was so I made a conscious decision to 'experiment' with life without alcohol. Having successfully given up smoking with Allen Carr I bought this book to support my decision. Over two years on and many 'alcohol free' (for me) parties later I feel more confident, happier and in control than I ever did when I was drinking. My first best decision was to buy the smoking book. I'm working on the chocolate habit.

Not quite what I'd expected
19 of 32 people found the following review helpful: 4 Feb 2005 Reviewer: A reader
Unfortunately I did not find this book as helpful as I hoped , as its actual aim is not to control your temptation to drink too much but to stop you drinking completely. If you are such a heavy drinker that you battle with craving alcohol every waking hour, then this may be the answer, but if you only wish to break a habit of drinking slightly too much on some of the occasions when you do drink, then I believe that good old fashioned will power, which Carr denigrates frequently, is the answer. Carr also scorns AA's tried & proven methodology, which given its success rate and the extent of its support network is unhelpful for true alcoholics.
I also believe he is mistaken when he believes that we all force ourselves to drink even though we (at least start off) hating the taste & have to acquire it by heavy dedication to drinking anything & everything. I for one have never drunk anything I don't like the taste of and for this reason never drink beer or spirits (or for that matter tea or coffee), only wine. I'm sure my palate has been refined over the years and my taste buds have developed so that I prefer more sophisticated flavours now, but I loved wine (especially red) from the first time I tasted it and continue to do so till this day. Thousands of wine connoisseurs cannot all hate their job!

Incredible - didn't believe it possible
6 of 6 people found the following review helpful:12 Jul 2005 Reviewer: A reader
Ibought this book after someone at work used his book to give up smoking. I wanted to learn how to control myself, i.e. not drink the whole bottle of red wine once it was opened but just have 2 glasses, which I found impossible. All through the book I was not sure if it was going to work but incredibly IT DID! I gave up totally and know that I am completely free now forever and so happy, it has given me back my life.

Hate to say it...but it seems to have worked
14 of 14 people found the following review helpful: , 12 Jul 2005Reviewer: Evan Berry (Bucks)
How bizarre... I'd heard so many good things about the 'stop smoking' book, so when I saw there was the 'control your alcohol' book, I just had to try it. Having been a bit of a boozer since my teens, and having also tried to give up many times, I was curious to see whether anything would change - on previous attempts, I found myself eager for a beer after work within a day of giving up. The book itself is really easy to read and the points he makes are just so obvious, but it became apparent very quickly, that I am truly a victim of the 'brainwashing'. It was almost like someone had switched a light on!!! I read the book twice in 4 days and must say that i didn't even need to have a 'final drink'. I've had no desire to drink, even with a meal, and i must say, I'm astounded. It's only been a few weeks, but like I said, normally, the desire would have been there and it just isn't. Something feels very different this time.
..This is a great book...

The route to a happier lifestyle
17 of 17 people found the following review helpful:
21 Jul 2005
Reviewer: A readerI first heard of Allen Carr from a colleague who was the 5th person in my team to read his stop smoking book and successfully give up. Amazed at the success, I was curious enough to want to read the book even though I had already given up. When I realised there was a control alcohol book, I knew I had to read it.
I wasn't a heavy drinker - far from it, but when I did drink I always drunk too much. Allen Carr challenges the way you think about alcohol and does little more than open your eyes to the reality of alcohol and it's seductive powers. Based upon fact, it delves into the chemical make up of alcohol and proves that it is no less an addictive substance than nicotine.
Having read some reviews that are discouraging of the book and disagree with his ideology, I can only think that the point of the book has been lost on them. There IS only one way to control alcohol and that IS to not drink it. What Allen Carr strives to achieve is to show you the benefits from doing so and to help you feel happy about the decision you have made.
In years that have gone by, I have "given up" and always resented the fact that I had, it didn't take me long to fall off the wagon again. This time I haven't given up - I simply choose not to drink alcohol because I don't enjoy it and have no reason to drink it. I often drunk to make myself happy (the "drown my sorrows" drink), I don't have any "sorrows" to drown anymore because instead of clouding them over with a few pints, I've tackled them head on.
On 17th April 2005 I had my "final drink" - I remember that day not because it's the last time I had a drink, but because it was the day I changed my life for good. I would recommend this book to anyone who is open minded enough to take in what the author says and challenge the beliefs that are pushed on them by society.

The easy way to understand the problem
33 of 34 people found the following review helpful:
5 Aug 2005 Reviewer: A reader This book should be read by anybody who thinks they are developing or have a problem with alcohol. It has saved me from a continuing downward spiral - and no I wasn't what most people think of as an alcoholic, indeed I only ever drank in the evenings and because of my increasing tolerance rarely beacame drunk in the accepted meaning of the word. However, I realised that my alcohol consumption was ever so slowly increasing. And it wasn't because of social pressures. I was one of the incredible growing band in Britain of people who buy a bottle (or 2/3/4 etc) of wine and maybe a bottle of spirit for home consumption - just a glass or two (or 3/4/5 etc) while watching telly, just to help me relax, yeah right!
Please read this book from page one to the end. It is essential you don't skip pages and essential you give it all your attention with no distractions in the background. Allen Carr offers more sense about alcohol than anyone I have ever heard or read. I have waited until now (three months without a drink) before giving my honest impression of this book just in case there were flaws. IT DOES WORK. And IT DOESN'T make you feel deprived of drink, indeed it is a great feeling once you realise you are free from the craving of having to drink alcohol.
Wonder if you have a drink problem? Before you read the book, stop drinking for a few days and if you cannot manage that without feeling deprived or having cravings for a drink then you do indeed have a drink problem. Buy the book immediately and change your life.

If you want to be free then PLEASE read this book
18 of 18 people found the following review helpful: , 7 Nov 2005 Reviewer: "koconnor75" I am free from alcohol 9 months now. I say free as that is how I feel. Like being free from a chain. Honestly.
It all started when I was looking at Christmas photos in January 2005 and there I was with a bottle of cider in my mouth looking quite overweight. I needed to do something about it.
Now back then I believed I was healthy, quite fit and like I could handle myself should the need arise. Wow what a joke that was! I am in the best shape I have ever been in EVER. I am 27 now and in better physical shape and positive mind than I have ever been and it is all thanks to this book on controlling alcohol. Now all the reviews above are true, if you want to give up alcohol you will do it with this book. Drink was a major factor in my life this time last year. If I was a designated driver I would feel down as I thought I was missing out on all the fun my mates were having. How wrong I was! It is an utter joy to go out now and not drink. I have MORE fun than when I drank. Yeah my friends made fun at me for being *dry* for not drinking and this usually happens at the start of the night. Then two or three drinks later they dont even realise I am not drinking. They just poke fun at the start as it is something different not to drink. Your friends may do the same, but ignore them! A close friend revealed to me that he wished he could give up the drink like I did, (when he was drunk). They wont admit it but it is the right decision should you wish to do it.
Do yourself a favour, buy the book, read a chapter or two every night or however you read, take in everything that is said in it, feel excited about being FREE and get ready to CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOREVER FOR THE BETTER!
Oh yeah dont worry about when to give up. I did it on my birthday!

Publishing in Blogger A Lightweight solution
One of the things I have been working on, is the use of Blogger as a broader publication tool, rather than just its diaristic form. It is everywhere, easy to log onto, easy to change Many blogs do not have a temporal basis and older posts which have relevance are lost from immediate view.
Using a few hacks in this example I have made a table of contents at the side.
Also so that the full post does not appear, but is revealed when the reader clicks on Read More.
In this case the subject matter is Amazon reviews of Allen Carr's Book "Easyway to Control Alcohol."

Don't wait any longer. Read this book

15 Dec 2005Reviewer: "emmie_107" Until recently, I had been drinking around twice the recommended weekly limit and had been for the past three or four years. I am only 26 years old but could already see the negative effects alcohol was having on my health. I felt pretty dreadful most of the time. I read this book back in October and have not touched a drop for nearly ten weeks now. How lovely it is to wake up in the morning without a hangover! If you feel your drinking has become a problem, PLEASE pick up this book and read it now. It really works. Don't waste any more of your valuable life getting plastered. I am going to enjoy a sober Christmas and in the New Year will read Allen Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking (one thing at a time!)

I quit drinking two years ago after reading this book
19 of 19 people found the following review helpful:
, 1 Jan 2006Reviewer: Liz B (Ickenham United Kingdom)I read this book and drank my last drink about two weeks before Christmas two years ago. I have never looked back. Plenty of people dismissed my 'giving up'as temporary and a bloke I know who goes to AA said 'don't worry if you relapse, it's bound to happen!' Well, it isn't bound to happen if you go about quitting the right way, and this book tells you what the right way is. Not drinking is so great, I wish I'd realised it a long time back. I now feel healthy all the time, and no longer get drunk and say stupid things, spend loads of money and give myself a hangover. But the best thing about it is knowing you are not a slave to anything any more. If you are in two minds about quitting (which is what is meant by controlling it - nothing else works and the book explains why), why not give the book a go anyway. After all, a book can't make you give up if you don't want to. What have you got to lose?

This is Great Book
71 of 71 people found the following review helpful:, 21 Jan 2006 Reviewer: A reader
And it actually works. Just basically gives you the reason why drinking is pointless, in a clear and sensible way. When you read the book, you'll wonder why you ever bothered wasting your life getting drunk. It may be difficult to believe but giving up alcohol is quite simple, and Carr will dispel the myth that once a drunk.. always a drunk..You don't need the AA, read this book. It actually works.
I used to drink a couple of bottles of wine on most nights and try to hold down a very professional job. I'd wake up feeling awful, and look extremely haggard. I'd have to have regular facials, go on strict diets and spend long periods of time in bed in order to recover. How I managed to hold down my job, I don't know. On top of having a professional job, I'm also quite vain about my looks and despite what the drink was doing to my face and my body, I still continued to drink but find ways to get around this by foolishly taking milk thistle and drinking loads of water to counteract it.
anyway, a few months ago, I decided enough was enough, I bought this book and I’ve stopped, just like that. I thought it would be hard and i could never imagine my life without alcohol, but actually its pretty easy once you realise what alcohol is.. even 'nice' drinks like baileys and good ole champers. Carr knows what he is talking about. I have very little faith in most therapies, as I believe that if you're gonna stop the abuse, you have to do it by yourself. Well this is what Carr does, he hands the choice back to you, but without you even realising it.
Do not read the book 'pissed'... read it sober.. and then have a drink.. by the end of the book, you'll realise that you don't actually want to drink and for sensible reasons.
If you aren't really a 'reader'.. get the web address of the book and attend a seminar.. you pay about 200 quid for it (one off) and they guarantee that you won't drink again or your money back.. If you don't drink again, then you lose 200 quid.. but really and honestly.. is that anything compared to the amount you spend on booze in 1 or 2 months?
Since not drinking, I have lost weight naturally, I look amazing., my skin is glowing, I feel positive about life. I feel confident again. Ive started my business, as well as continuing to work at my job. I can get up in the morning without feeling pains in my kidneys, or headaches.
You CAN cope without alcohol.. and can you socialise without alcohol too. You'll notice all you friends getting pissed and chatting sh*t whilst you remain sober and coherent. It's much better. You may think getting drunk makes you a great conversationalist, it doesn't. If you could hear yourself back after a night out getting drunk, you'll know exactly what I mean. And if you're getting bored with your company whilst your sober then think about parting company with them. If you can't have a decent conversation with someone when they are sober, then what's the point of being in their company?
Since reading the book, I have lost a few friends, but have realised that they weren't really friends, merely drinking partners, who were encouraging me to drink. They were bringing nothing into my life but pain and misery.. Drink clouded a lot of things for me in my life because I was too frightened to face them being sober, but drinking only makes the problems worse. Now that Im sober, I still have the problems, but i can now face them with a clear head and with confident which comes from inside, not from the bottle. Don't be fooled into thinking that alcohol gives you courage...it not real courage..its fake.. alcohol turns you into a fake person.. a great laugh in the pub, but a demon to loved ones indoors..a nuisance to your boss, a bad breathed old hag to your other half.. it's a dreadful, devastating, dirty, horrible drug which ruins your life. If your reading this and you're at rock bottom, then hear my story..because you can get out of the addiction, without having to carry a ball and chain around your neck worrying whether you're gonna touch your next drink..

Book is great - any other support?

31 Jan 2006 Reviewer: A readerI have read this book up to the final instructions and am reading it once again before I proceed to make sure I really, really get it. I have high hopes, though it is scary at the same time - it is a literally a whole new way of living and thinking. I really can't find fault with too much he says, if anything. I have found myself some questions to which I always come back to "but why would you want to drink it in the first place?"
I'm wondering if there is any sort of online support group? It sounds as if once you read the whole thing, you don't need one, but in any event I am curious in case I need a refresher other than the book itself. I am in the US - I don't think there are too many clinics here yet.
Makes me wonder, if my ex and I had read this back in the days of ten pints and a curry, maybe we'd still be together.

Cold hard logic wipes the floor with your long held beliefs. You will be shocked and amazed!!! But you'll have to read it yourself to find out!!
Thank you Mr Carr!!! :D :D

It works

21 May 2006Reviewer: Cog I was a serious alcoholic. By my mid-twenties, I drank the equivalent of 45 pints of beer a week. Even though I later went through periods of recovery (some of them quite long), by the time I reached my mid-thirties, this had risen to at least 75 pints a week, maybe more. I would have drunk even more if I could have physically handled it.
It had caused me to lose a marriage and ruined one career. It was now in serious danger of ruining another. I spent at least 3 years trying to stop (this time). Every single weekend for all that time, I would convince myself that this would be my last session. But by the following monday or tuesday, I would be back on it again, only to repeat the cycle of despair.
I finally decided that I would quit my job and live on my savings so that I would be able to concentrate on kicking this thing without any outside distractions or stresses. I kept on stopping and starting for seven more weeks, essentially becoming a out of work drunk, the opposite of what I was trying to acheive.
I thought I had tried everything. As well as all the usual types of therapies and counselling, I had bought many books, but none of them had managed to totally kill this thing.
Until now. I know for a fact, I can feel it to the depths of my core that this thing is finally dead. It has gone, there is absolutely nothing left.
And you know what? It was easy.

Not a 'miracle' - simply and genuinely effective,

6 Jun 2006Reviewer: Mark I do have what I believe is a healthy disregard for the self-help genre in general - there must be a few of the genuine article out there but often they confuse with their conflicting messages and glib approach. Ultimately, most will let you down and lose you money. `Allen Carr's Easy Way to Control Alcohol' was, for me, a remarkable exception to the rule. For this well-groomed sceptic, the book turned out to be particularly intuitive and, most importantly, amazingly effective.
For 16 years, I consistently drank more and more. Trying circumstances which, by the way, remain largely in tact led me to several bouts of severe depression, two redundancies, major financial difficulties and long-term loneliness. Alcohol became the expensive crutch upon which I relied to blight the pain of my life on a daily basis. At the time of writing, I remain vulnerable to these negative influences. However, my debilitating addiction to alcohol is now cured and was so quite literally overnight.
I read Allen Carr's publication over a period of a fortnight and drank throughout - as the author advised. Then, on the evening I completed the book, I took what was to be my last alcoholic drink. The following day, I went to the pub as usual and drank diet Coke all evening - I simply did not have the appetite for alcohol at all and have no desire to drink it again.
If you have a problem with alcohol (or even if you just think you do), by all means try every avenue of professional help open to you that you may wish or are recommended to undertake. It may be irresponsible not to. However, for the price of a paperback, I would recommend this work wholeheartedly in the hope that my review, and consequently Allen Carr's book, will help many more of those who need it.
If you happen upon this review, Mr Carr - thank you for your outstanding contribution to the field of control over addiction and to my own well-being. My only regret is that I didn't discover you earlier.

I cannot rate this book highly enough

27 Jun 2006Reviewer: Sarah (London) After years of struggling with alcohol I finally found this book and it was like a godsend . It completely changed how I thought about drinking and my attitude towards it. It made me really explore my relationship with drink for the first time. Reading this book is the best thing I have ever done. I wish I'd read it years ago! It is so uplifting and takes away all the guilt and fear. It makes you realise you are not missing out in anyway by not drinking and it stops drink being something you crave. If you have had problems with drink or just don't want to understand more about alcohol and the effect it has on you or you want to change your relationship with it this book is for you. I don't want to sound evangelical but this book is life changing! Thank you Allen. THANK YOU!

Thank You Allen Carr,

15 Aug 2006Reviewer: Mr. K. H. Cargill (Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland) I am free at last! I have been a very heavy drinker for many years but having had a kidney transplant and been diagnosed with a heart disorder within the last 8 years I knew I couldn't carry on the way I had. I was also told to cut right back due to the number and different types of medication I take. But still I persisted, mainly because I couldn't do without it. I was an argumentative, verbally abusive git when I was drunk and many a time had fallen out with members of my family. My wife bore the brunt of it and I am incredibly lucky that she has been tolerant enough of me to stay. I tried to "give up" (sacrifice a friend) using will power alone on many occasions but became so irritable and on edge that I would always find an excuse to start again. Now having read Allen Carr's remarkable book just over two weeks ago, I am completely cured of any addiction I had. I now hate the very sight and smell of the stuff and actually resent it for what it did to me over the years, all as a result of the reverse brain washing technique applied by Mr Carr. I knew from the moment I stopped reading that I would never crave a drink again as I simply loathe the stuff. Some might say that it's still too early to judge but I know simply by comparing my feelings now to those I had when attempting to quit using will power that this is for good. I know I certainly had no withdrawal symptoms this time, either physical or mental. I feel elated every day. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has found it difficult or impossible to stop in the past. Remember as Allen Carr states, we are not giving something up, we are being released from the prison alcohol has trapped us in.

READ THIS BOOK!!
29 Sep 2006 Reviewer: Mr. Steven J. Julien "Drunk on
life" (Peterborough, uk)
This book is amazing! I read this book in September 2005 and haven't had or wanted a drink since!
I used to drink every day and would easily drink 40-50+ units every week.
I have been trying to cut down or stop drinking for years and found it harder and harder to control my intake. Always wanting it even more when I stopped or cut down. When I first started drinking, I would have every January off to get over Christmas and New Year. The last time I managed this was over 10 years aga and in my last couple of years of drinking I could only manage till lunchtime on New Years Day.
I now have more confidence, im fitter, thinner, no mood swings/hangovers, look 100% better and im even richer!
I go out with my mates just as much and have more fun than I used to.
All from reading this book just once.
If you don't like the amount you drink then read this book, it really was a piece of cake for me.
The book did say that I would feel no physical side effects when I stopped however I did wake up with my usual 'Fuzzy head' for a week after.
My only word of warning would be that if drink is masking any problems in your life and/or relationships, Then they're gonna be out there. The good news is that when you understand how and why you don't need drink. You can face your fears, look them straight in the eye, and kick 'em in the love spuds!
Good luck!
